Gareth Johns, Master Chef of Great Britain, is the Slow Food Ambassador Chef for Wales and currently co-ordinator for the Chefs’ Alliance in Wales.

He is also a founder member of the Culinary Association of Wales, and Chair of the Mid- Wales region. A fervent participator in skills education and life- long learning, believing passionately that ‘knowledge not shared is wasted’. He was also a member for ten years of the National Culinary Team, and has travelled world wide to promote the fabulous food and drink of Wales. In his day job, Gareth is the Chef/Proprietor of the Wynnstay Hotel in Machynlleth. He has no hobbies, as he has no spare time, but if he had it would involve his beloved Llanelli Scarlets- Ymlaen, Sospan!!!!

Currently Wales has five products in the Ark of Taste: Artisan Caerphilly cheese, Badger Face Welsh Mountain Sheep, Bardsey Apple, Penclawdd Cockles and the Pedigree Welsh Pig. There are also applications for three more, Hen Gymru wheat, the Denbigh Plum and Laver bread with more in the pipeline.
