How Giles got into producing British Lop and why he chose this particular product
Giles’s ancestors have been farming in Cornwall for over 400 years, and so it is fair to say it runs in his blood. After serious losses in commercial farming Giles tried to forge a career in computer brokering, but his roots in farming brought him back. The British Lop was a natural choice of pig breed, being perfectly suited for the Cornwall climate and producing incredible tasting meat with a beautiful texture a great meat to fat ratio. The British Lop is one of the rarest pigs in Britain and Giles is determined to not only get the breed off the endangered list but make ‘British Lop’ a household name. To do this he needs to convince the public to start eating British Lop, and so as well as running Trevaskis Farm he is chairman of The British Lop Pig Society, which represents the interests of owners, breeders and consumers in championing the British Lop Pig. Trevaskis Farm is dedicated to finding only the very best organic, fairly traded, ecological, artisan and above all affordable products. Trevaskis Farm has always operated with the same ethos, prioritising home-grown and home-reared produce and sourcing goods from trusted local producers.
