How Catherine got into growing Shropshire Prune Damsons why she chose this particular product:
Catherine has a 3-acre smallholding on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border called Temple House Farm which used to be a damson farm and damson collection point for the local village. She found several old Shropshire Prune damson trees on her land and fell in love with the rich distincitve taste of the fruit. Since then she has planted some new trees herself. As an a active member of the Slow Food Ludlow group she continues to promote the wonderful Shropshire Prune damson alongside other growers, cooks and campaigners, aiming to get them back on the culinary map.
Catherine’s favourite Shropshire Prune Damson recipe:
One of Catherine’s favourite recipes using Shropshire Prune Damson is Damson cheese. It is a rich fruity paste which serves as a wonderful accompaniment to both soft and hard cheeses, as well as to meats and charcuteries.
Products that Catherine is offering:
As well as Shropshire Prune Damsons, Catherine also grows apples, pears, plums, cherries and a range of other soft fruit, however she does not grow on a commercial basis.
