Job Vacancies and Voluntary Opportunities

Almost all of our volunteering opportunities are in our local groups. We run food festivals, school’s projects, work with young offenders, reply to government consultations, and teach basic cooking skills to name but just a handful of our activities.  Occasionally we have national volunteering opportunities too.

Volunteering in your local area: Local groups advertise these opportunities on their local websites and newsletters.

Current Job Vacancies: Slow Food in the UK does not have any job vacancies.

Current Intern Vacancies: We do not have any formal intern places currently.

Current UK Voluntary Opportunities: Communications Manager (Volunteer Role)

Slow Food in the UK has more than 40,000 twitter followers, 12,500 followers on Facebook and a small presence on Instagram.

We are seeking someone who can over-see the strategic management of all three platforms, plus extend our reach by advising us on YouTube and live streaming content.

You will be required to generate and schedule content across all of our platforms about our key messages and values, both with UK content and that from our parent Slow Food International.

Slow Food in the UK is made up of four national bodies, and you would be expected to highlight key messages and projects from within those nations.

You would be required to post key news and comment pieces on current or forthcoming stories around sustainable food and farming, and stories and key events of our partners and alliances.

You would be the primary point of engagement with followers comments and questions.

This role is likely to take two hours volunteer time a day, at hours to suit you. Much of this time will be background reading on current stories and issues in the press: if this is your interest, you will likely be doing much of this already.

Because you will have access to data regarding members and internal documents, our legal indemnity insurance and our GDPR policy requires you to be a paid-up member of Slow Food in the UK.

To apply for this role, or ask further questions then please contact Shane Holland, Executive Chair at s.holland (@)
