Created eleven years ago, the Slow Food Awards winners are nominated by the public. Each winner is a champion of good, clean and fair food and represents the very best of their craft.

In addition to the public vote, each national director chooses their Person of the Year, someone who embodies Slow Food values.

Sam worked with SFCW at Abergavenny Food Festival earlierthis year, showcasing GI and Ark of Taste products. He recognises the need for sustainable food and supply chains and appreciates Wales’ diverse food larder and culture.
 
He is a Welsh chef who has won numerous awards, including the 2024 Junior Chef of Wales and has competed internationally for the UK.
 
He works as a Chef de Partie at Y Seler in Aberaeron and is a lecturer, championing Welsh produce at every opportunity.
 
  • Accolades: Won the Junior Chef of the Year competition in 2024, and the Best Young Chef in Wales in 2023. He also won Young Welsh Chef of the Year in 2017 and was named Best British Chef (under 22) in 2018-2019.
  • Competitions: Represented Wales at a grand final in Monaco, where he and his partner won third best country in the world. He has also represented Britain in competitions across the globe, including Australia, Finland, China, Sweden, and Dubai. He was also named the fifth best young chef in the world at a Worldskills competition in Russia.
