Members of Slow Food Aylsham finally launched their second recipe book this month (Oct) – in time for their now-cancelled 15th anniversary celebrations.
Called Canny Cooking, the 24-page, fully illustrated handbook, is aimed at the growing numbers of Food Bank users so all recipes are based on the contents of a typical food bank parcel – mainly non-perishable canned and dried foods – and are simple, easy to follow, to encourage those who receive food parcels to get the best out of their rations.
A donation of 100 copies was presented to the Cromer Food Bank – who immediately ordered another 500 to give away to customers who are reluctant cooks but keen to try. The book is also on sale for £5 (inc pp) – all profits to the Trussell Trust – and the group has already received several requests.
