At the end of last year, our Slow Food on Campus programme ran a competition with our partner Grana Padano, to see which student could come up with the best recipe using the world famous artisan cheese. The recipes are in and the judges were really impressed with the high standard of creativity amongst the students.

Drum roll please… The Winner of the 2013 Student Grana Padano Recipe competition is Judith Weber from the University of Portsmouth. We are so pleased for Judith, as she is part of our newly appointed Slow Food on Campus Portsmouth group who have been remarkably busy since they started their group. Already they’ve gathered 80 new members at their Refresher’s Fayre, organised a Disco Soup and cookery classes with their local college.  Judith will receive £300 worth of Abel and Cole vouchers, courtesy of Grana Padano.. yes we’re green with envy!

Portsmouth students dominated the shortlist, but the judges thought that Judith’s winning dish was very in line with the Slow Food Ethos. Her Grana Padano Cous Cous Salad with Cucumber Yoghurt and Oven Tomatoes combined good, healthy ingredients with simplicity and originality. The details of Judith’s recipe are below.

Our partnership with Grana Padano enables us to offer our students exciting opportunities, such as this competition, helping to fuel their creativity, learn and promote good, clean and fair food.
