Calling all budding writers!
Part of our change in movement is about grassroots empowerment – the general Slow Food pages reflect our on-going policies and campaigns, and we want the blog to be a snapshot of our members activities and interests.
You could blog about something you do in your professional life, or a private passion. We will take one off pieces, or weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
The best word count is 200-300 words, but sometimes the best articles can be said in less (or more!) words; and are generally best if they have some of image (But we do often have access to photography)
You may want to write about a Slow Food challenge; your gardening year, health and nutrition, CAP reform, the economics of running a small dairy herd… we are open to anything which demonstrates Good, Clean & Fair in food or farming practices either directly or indirectly.
We will retain a joint copyright of the work posted on the site, however we promise never to monetise it. You may however sell, or syndicate the articles elsewhere. You will be given a byline with your name  and one of either your twitter, Facebook or email should you wish it included.
We will not generally edit your copy, though will remove any very obvious typos – in the very unlikely event of an article not being suitable we will let you know why.
We will promote the blog via our Social Media, and may reproduce certain pieces (with a credit) in our newsletters and comms. Because we have a UK reach, we ask that the articles be of interest to most areas of the UK: an article about attending a very local event is fine in the context of a piece of a “week in a life”, but one solely about a local event is best suited with our local group websites.
Next steps:
If you’d like to blog, please let us know your ideas for an opening piece, and when you think you’d like to have it posted. It would also be helpful to know if you wish to blog as a one off, or more frequently (Don’t worry you can change your mind at any time, or indeed stop)
The pieces themselves should be sent to us in word format, and if including your own images, they should be inserted into the file.
Express your interest by emailing communications@slowfood.org.uk
