Slow Food UK’s Chef Alliance reaches 125 members!

We are proud to announce that Slow Food UK’s Chef Alliance has officially reached 125th members.

Approaching the Chef Alliance’s 3 year anniversary, we are delighted to welcome Tom KerridgeHead Chef at the Hand and Flowers and Xavier Boyer, Executive Chef at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, bringing the number of chefs to 125.

The Chef Alliance has been growing from only 1 member in 2011, Richard Corrigan, which is also its spokesperson, to 125 prestigious Britain’s chefs, all actively championing the products of the UK Ark of Taste, one of our programmes, sponsored by Lavazza, dedicated to collect threatened traditional foods from small scale producers sustainably sourced and quality produced preserving them from disappearing, which now counts 79 foods. 

During these 3 years the Chef Alliance was able to raise awareness about these foods and other food issues through events such as Slow Food Week – next year coming on its 4th edition – a week-long celebration of the good, clean and fair ethos that we stand with forgotten foods dinner, tastings, talks and initiatives where the chefs from the Chef Alliance participated with great success.

Says Richard Corrigan;“I am extremely pleased about the success of the Chef Alliance, now counting an impressive 125 members, all championing the forgotten foods and Slow Food UK’s Ark of Taste programme. Slow Food has done a remarkable job in giving all these fantastic producers a window to  chefs and consumers. The battles to fight in our food system in order to promote more sustainable, clean and local food are still numerous, but with the precious help of the Chef Alliance we can definitely say we are moving in the right direction.”

Says Tom Kerridge; “The understanding and depth of flavour is something that is paramount to myself and the team at The Hand and Flowers. Joining Slow Food UK provides us with a connection and a mutual understanding of how food, flavours and cooking should be, as well as connecting chefs with their food and traditions, promoting a more sustainable, better way to eat.”

Says Xavier Boyer; “I am delighted to join the Slow Food UK Chef Alliance as its 125th member. It’s such an honour, as it is working with the incredible Forgotten Food producers that Slow Food UK strives to protect. We will be serving a special Forgotten Foods themed menu for the London Restaurant Festival from 3rd to 27th October.
