Green back in schools with Slow Food London

Slideshow Image

Slow Food London has been busy as ever in its schools programs, and following on from installing sensory herb gardens in schools for autistic young people last year, is this year busily preparing the ground for the installation of community orchards into school grounds. One successful example of these programs is the sensory garden planted at Haymerle School last May, which will be completed by an orchard this Saturday!

These taste experiences on Trees also bring green and wildlife to some of London’s most deprived areas. It’s also not too late to get your local school twinned under the Slow Food Global Schools Twinning Program, co-coordinated by Slow Food London. This scheme matches schools with others both in the UK, and cities across the world so that the young people can share their stories on differing traditional foods, growing techniques and water availability through creative writing, pictures, photos and Skype calls!
