Slow Food England Chef Alliance & Ark


The UK  has 120 or so members, of whom 80 are in England.

We will be in particular extending the network in 2016 to include chefs working in any kitchen which serves the wider public – pubs, schools, hospitals, event catering – and membership will be open to any chef who actively supports the values of Slow Food, and uses products from the Ark of Taste, local where possible, and as appropriate to the cuisine of their kitchen.

To that end, we will relaunch the Alliance with a new manifesto, based on the guidelines set out by the Slow Food International Foundation, making each member part of a global network of chefs.

The ARK of TASTE for England

Currently consists of 67 products which are at risk (imminent or potential) of disappearance, whether through falling out of use, or by being marginalised by industrial food production.

It is our belief that both our biodiversity and landscape depend on us cataloguing as many products as possible, and we aim to find another 25 (one a fortnight) in 2016.
