The family-friendly Best of the West Festival celebrated the best in food, drink, craft, music and entertainments from the West of Scotland.

While visitors were being entertained food and drink featured strongly with the Best of the West Whiskies, pitting all 22 West Coast Distillers against each other in a light-hearted ‘people’s tasting’.  Loch Fyne Oysters, Slow Food UK supporter and part of the award winning “Food from Argyll” Team, provided local food to eat, sample and take home. Other Food from Argyll producers were present and offered delicious venison burgers, Scottish smoked salmon, locally ground coffee and rich local ales.

Loch Fyne provided the festival goers with oysters, smoked mussels and their legendary grilled salmon rolls. Watch out for our Slow Food oyster recipe in the Forgotten Foods recipe bank soon!

Inveraray Castle, the jewel in the West Highland’s crown, provided a stunning backdrop.  The imposing, turreted castle, built in the 1700s for the Dukes of Argyll, sits on the edge of Loch Fyne surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the west coast.
