Peter McKenna

My career started in the mid nineties in rural Ireland working after school and weekends, in 97 went to catering college then on to cook in the kitchens of renowned restaurants in The Netherlands, London, Sydney, Dublin and Glasgow .
As well as having great experience in restaurants I spent six years working in the private sector as the personal chef of a Saudi sheikh and a Russian oligarch.
After a lot of planning I opened The Gannet with business partner Ivan Stein to critical acclaim, gathering a reputation as one of Glasgow’s leading restaurants, with a firm focus on seasonal Scottish produce developed links with local artisan producers and farmers, we have picked up many accolades and awards such as  AA awards Scottish restaurant of the year 2015/16 ,  3 AA Rosettes and a Michelin bib gourmand.
At the Gannet I feel that we have only just got started and are constantly inspired by the Scottish larder
