Other Useful Organisations: There are some similar organisations doing great things to engage and encourage people to skill up and learn new things about food, the environment and sustainability.  Check them out, you might find them helpful!

The NUS (National Union of Students) is the national voice of students helping them to campaign, provides advice on living student life to the full and get cheap student discounts. The mission of NUS is to promote, defend and extend the rights of students and to develop and champion strong students’ unions.

Slow Food on Campus works with NUS to contribute to the Green Impact Student Unions initiative, helping to encourage students’ unions to embrace good, sustainable food systems through engagement with the student body and local community.

Keep your eyes on the NUS website for info on your rights as a student, advice, competition and discounts.

People and Planet is the largest student network in Britain campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment.

People and Planet have established student groups at 71 universities and colleges in the UK and with one of the most influential green university league tables out there they are leading the way in student engagement.

Slow Food on Campus will be attending the People and Planet Shared Planet event in November.

Student Cooking.TV

Slow Food on Campus aims to cover as many of the food issues surrounding us as we can, including helping to change the way students eat through offering the knowledge about how to cook and what/where to buy.

Student Cooking.TV is an excellent, online resource for students who need some inspiration and/or help in the kitchen.  Focussing on working with universities around the country the website has a glut of videos all about recipes, handy hints and tips and the specifics of each Uni and its town.

This is the foodie first stop for all students, whether new to Uni and a bit at sea about where to start or simply wanting to cook up a storm.

Check them out in The Guardian and look out for them at your Uni.
