Slow Food on Campus
Slow Food on Campus is an inspiring and empowering student-led initiative which encourages university and higher education students with an appetite for influencing their local food systems both at their institution and within their local community - from food growing and production to how the food is served.
Activities include raising awareness of the Slow Food ethos through events such as film screenings, talks and debates; or practical pursuits like growing edible campus gardens or hosting farmer’s markets. We encourage students to connect with their community, from participating in community gardens to meeting local producers, with support provided by our network of local Slow Food groups.
At the heart of university and college communities around the UK students raise their aspirations and expectations of life whilst their lifestyle choices become more and more defined; as do their attitudes towards food, the environment, and society in general. Slow Food on Campus help students focus on activities the group feels are most appropriate for their area – the events are student-led with support and guidance from our UK office.
Slow Food on Campus has expanded to 10 fully formed groups at Universities and Further Education colleges across the UK, with 12 more in the pipeline.
