Slow Food UK and the BBC Good Food Show come together to support producers of Good, Clean and Fair food at four major Shows in 2008 Slow Food UK and the BBC Good Food Show have formed an exciting new partnership to give producers of quality, traditional, food and drink the chance to promote their products to a huge, diverse audience at four high-profile Shows throughout 2008. The BBC Good Food Shows are the UK’s leading food and drink events, and take place in Birmingham, Glasgow and London, attracting over 300,000 people. Producers will be offered unrivalled incentives to participate, in recognition of the need to give producers greater access to the marketplace, as well as to help save and promote Britain’s excellent quality produce. We are looking for special producers to apply for the BBC Good Food Show and Slow Food UK Bursary for outstanding producers. A number of bursaries are available for each Show, and further details about how producers can apply for this exceptional award can be found here. There will also be a Slow Food pavilion at each Show, offering a number of stands at significantly reduced rates for producers representing the best in Good, Clean and Fair food. There will also be an extensive programme of Slow Food Taste Workshops at each Show, drawing on Slow Food’s rich and diverse knowledge and experience of educating the public about the pleasures and tastes of quality food and drink. Visitors to the 2007 Shows enjoyed a foretaste of the Slow Food Taste Workshops, with Slow Food Edinburgh participating in the Glasgow Show, and Slow Food Ludlow in Birmingham. Donald Reid, convivium leader of Slow Food Edinburgh, comments: "Our Slow Food tasting sessions at the Glasgow show were all sold out before the doors opened, which tells me that there’s real interest in what Slow Food is saying, as well as a desire to get closed to, taste and learn about the food that’s now being produced with care and flair by small producers from all over the country." Silvija Davidson, Chair of Slow Food UK, adds: "We are delighted at the opportunity to present to a wide cross-section of the British public producers and products that bring to life the Slow Food touchstone that the food we eat should be good, clean and fair in every respect". Nathan Garnett, Event Presenter for the BBC Good Food Show comments: "This is a very exciting time for those of us who are keen to protect our rich food heritage. We are delighted to be working with Slow Food, who will add amazing content to our events, and help us educate thousands about the importance of protecting our food culture."
