NEW SLOW FOOD UK AWARD LAUNCHES AT 5O BEST RESTAUARANT AWARDS 2012

To celebrate their 10-year anniversary, a new award has been introduced to the World’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2012: The Slow Food UK Award sponsored by Highland Park Whisky.

This award will be given to the restaurant which represents most faithfully the core values of the Slow Food UK movement; creating pleasurable food with a strong commitment to community and the environment.
The award ceremony, which is seen by many as the “Oscars of the food world” will take place on 30th April 2012,

Slow Food UK and Common Agricultuiral Policy

The Common Agricultural Policy is a system of European Union agricultural subsidies and programmes. It represents 48% of the EU's budget. Slow Food’s response to the legislative proposals for the new CAP highlights the need for more focus on sustaining small-scale farmers.

We are at a very crucial point for the future for small-scale European food producers. Proposals have been made for the reform of the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy). Unfortunately the main lobbyists are large agricultural organisations and governments that are looking to block the European Commission’s push for a greener and fairer CAP.  Slow Food
