The Big Lunch, which took place on Sunday 18th July, inspired an estimated one million people to participate in a lunch with their neighbours across the UK. A fantastic turn out so well done to any Slow Food members who took part. For photos and a full update of the day please visit www.thebiglunch.com.

Local Loaves for Lammas - 31st July & 1st August 2010. Last year the Real Bread Campaign, funded by Big Lottery Fund’s Local Food scheme, launched Local Loaves for Lammas, which encourages people to celebrate this ancient harvest festival by baking or buying a local loaf.
To make the event even bigger and better this year, they need your help! The sooner they know about your event, the better the chances of getting media coverage to help raise your profile locally and to help build awareness of the Campaign in general. To say ‘count me in’ or for more information, please contact Chris Young at the Real Bread Campaign on: realbread@sustainweb.org
Slow Food UK is delighted to be supporting and taking part in 'A Garden Party To Make A Difference': 8th - 19th September 2010. As part of the Start initiative launched in February by The Prince of Wales, this 12 day festival aims to give people of all ages a fun day out while at the same time, via the exhibits, demonstrating the small steps that can, and are, being taken by all of us, interested in building a more sustainable future.
The Prince of Wales has announced that he is joining forces with musicians, comedians, environmental experts and some of Britain’s best known companies to create a unique festival in the heart of London. The Prince is opening up his own gardens at Clarence House, together with his neighbours’ gardens at Lancaster House and Marlborough House for the duration of the festival.
Tickets, priced £15 for adults and £7.50 for children are on sale now and are timed for purposes of entrance only. Full details are available on the Garden Party website www.startuk.org
